The fifth anniversary of Double or Nothing was mainevented by an Anarchy in the Arena match. Team Elite, comprising The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Jack Perry, took on Team AEW, which consisted of FTR, Bryan Danielson, and Darby Allin. The match also saw a cameo appearance from AEW President, Tony Khan.
After playing his role, Tony Khan was supposed to go backstage. However, he chose a weird way to make his exit. The fight eventually ended up on the main stage, and the AEW CEO decided to roll down the ramp. This resulted in him awkwardly pushing himself until he forcibly reached the bottom of the ramp. This resulted in him getting out of the frame as the cameramen focused on the fight on the stage.
Khan then looked around, got up on his feet, and awkwardly started running while crouched. He finally reached an exit next to the ramp and got out of the public view. Meanwhile, the fight continued on the stage with fire extinguishers. Thankfully, the awkward exit was not caught by the show cameras.
The match eventually ended with Bryan Danielson getting hit by a finisher by each member of the Elite. Jack Perry finally put him down for the three count with his knee, leading to a victory for Team Elite in the main event of Double or Nothing.
Fans left in splits as Tony Khan makes awkward exit during Anarchy in the Arena match
The wrestling world clowned Tony Khan for making such a clumsy exit. They mentioned how although he may fancy seeing himself as the next Vince McMahon, his selling skills are equivalent to that of Linda McMahon. This was referring to her terrible sell of wrestling moves, most prominently the stunner.
Khan is generally praised by the wrestling audience for keeping up the illusion of professional wrestling outside of AEW. However, he failed to achieve that at Double or Nothing. While his exit was not caught on camera, Khan broke the fourth wall and highly disrupted the immersion of the live audience with this stunt.
Several fans claimed that despite trying his best, Khan always ends up coming off as a joke whenever he appears on TV. The jokes seem to write themselves, and people are unable to take him seriously in any role.
