Last week, the WNBA declared that it was looking into “racial remarks” made at Chicago Sky star Angel Reese at Indianapolis’ Gainbridge Fieldhouse. After an inquiry, the WNBA now stated that it “cannot substantiate claims that racist fan behavior took place” during a Sky vs. Fever game in Indianapolis earlier this month.

This has led to widespread reactions from the NBA community in general, with many fans calling the Sky star for ‘lying’ regarding such a sensitive matter. Notably, some fans also called out famous singer Megan Thee Stallion in this matter, which includes Reese. Mostly because Reese and Stallion have a good relationship, and the latter has also been accused of lying about racism.

The league said that in addition to an audio and video analysis of the game, it also collected information from fans, the team, and arena personnel as part of its inquiry. A brief altercation broke out between the players after Fever star Caitlin Clark was called for a flagrant-1 foul on her longtime opponent, Reese, during the game. The two have been rivals in the WNBA since their time in college.

Reese is Black and Clark is White, and their relationship has been the subject of racist and misogynistic online harassment. Although she later admitted that the noise level in Indiana’s arena was high during the game, Clark said she did not hear any racial comments. It looks as if this ongoing matter has been dealt with smoothly by the WNBA.

Per reports, earlier this month, Reese was questioned about whether she could give the WNBA information regarding the event. She didn’t provide details. Furthermore, she did not disclose the nature of the remarks or any other details on the circumstances that led to the probe. This surely did not look good on the Sky players’ part.

Fans left furious with Angel Reese after the WNBA found no evidence regarding her racist claims

One thing NBA fans don’t like, someone lying about sensitive topics such as racism. Unluckily for the Chicago Sky star, Angel Reese, she did just that(as mentioned above), causing immense reactions from the NBA and WNBA communities.

Many fans took to various social media apps and sites to put forward their reactions regarding the WNBA’s recent statement regarding Reese’s racist claims. One fan did not hold back, having a go at Reese as well as her close friend, Megan Thee Stallion, on X.

The fan wrote on X, “Angel Reese is a LIAR, she knew 200% wtf she was doing. She knew the “Monkey Noises” was a bullshit story, but she decided to run with it anyway. And she wonders why she catches hate, no wonder why she is friends with Megan Thee Stallion both will lie to cover their a**es.” Check out some of the fan reactions below:

On the court, Reese and her side still need to win a game this WNBA season. Maybe her frustrations are taking over her emotions lately. The Sky are now 0–4 on the season as they try to break out of their current rut. It remains to be seen how this situation unfolds in the coming days.

Angel Reese sets a WNBA record in her matchup against the Mercury

The WNBA and Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is one of the best players, alongside Caitlin Clark, in the league. However, her start to the 2025-26 WNBA season has not been that great. However, individually, Reese set a new WNBA record in her recent matchup against the Phoenix Mercury.

Throughout her WNBA career, Reese has amassed over 500 points and 500 rebounds. She needed 38 games to get to 500-500. After WNBA great Tina Charles, Reese is the quickest player in league history to reach those total numbers. To get there, Reese concluded Tuesday night’s game against the Mercury with 13 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks.

However, she ended up on the losing side of the game. Given that, even at this early point in her career, Reese continues to be the most prolific rebounder in WNBA history. Five of the rebounds against the Mercury were offensive, while ten were defensive. It will be interesting to watch how Reese and Co. bounce back in this season going forward.
