“baby face cheating is crazy to me “- Fans go wild after Cody Rhodes teases potential heel turn as he defeats Kevin Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event
Even though it wasn't a typical babyface win for Cody Rhodes, he got the job done by hook or by crook against Kevin Owens.

Flaunting the classic “Winged Eagle” WWE title, Cody Rhodes was on song at Saturday Night’s Main Event. He tamed the menace of Kevin Owens and his reign now stands at 251 days. Speaking of how both of them fared, Rhodes made the first move on Owens, who kept ducking the champ even after the bell rang.
However, slowly but steadily, Kevin exploited Cody’s already damaged left ankle that Chad Gable kept targeting on SmackDown last week. Nonetheless, for someone as shrewd as Owens, he doubled down on Cody’s Achilles heel. A moment came when Owens was clearing up the commentary table to use to his advantage. However, The American Nightmare caught him off guard with an RKO out of nowhere.
He followed it up with a Cody Cutter, but Kevin still kicked out. Perched on the top rope, Rhodes went for more. However, KO countered it with a Fisherman’s Suplex. The Prizefighter inadvertently took the referee out as he drove Cody right into him. A new ref came running down that aisle only to suffer the same fate.
Just then, Owens thought it would’ve been great if he had brought a steel chair into the play. He did so, but it only backfired on the challenger. The Prodigal Son displayed immaculate ring awareness and planted his foe with a Cross Rhodes on the steel chair. And just like that, it was over for the Canadian.
On commentary, Jesse “The Body” Ventura kept emphasizing the urgency of pulling the trigger with that chair. Though Owens wasn’t hesitant about using the weapon this time around like he was at Bash in Berlin, Cody came prepared for it. Now that the former AEW EVP has overcome a demented man in Kevin, it’d be interesting to see if this feud continues further.
Fans disappointed as Cody Rhodes retains his world title against Kevin Owens in a short-lived fun affair
Heading into Saturday Night’s Main Event, there was hope among fans that Kevin Owens might really upset Cody Rhodes for the title. However, the latter did his homework. Dusty’s son proved to be a nightmare for Kevin’s dreams.

The WWE Universe on social media is having a tough time picking a side. Most of them applauded the two men for pulling out all the stops. However, that ending where Rhodes seemed as if he was the bad guy caught some off guard.
A few even questioned WWE CCO Triple H‘s predictable booking throughout the night. But on top of that, it’s quite apparent that fans wanted to see Owens beat Rhodes. The Prizefighter hasn’t held a world title since 2017. Many believe it’s high time he held one.
