“Really pathetic” – Fans enraged as Sheffield Wednesday fan mocks DEATH of former Sheffield United player George Baldock
Sheffield United fans expressed unabated anger after a supposed Sheffield Wednesday fan mocked George Baldock's death.

Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday have always had a tight rivalry. Things took an ugly turn when supposed Sheffield Wednesday fans were seen instigating Sheffield United followers with a message about a former player of theirs.
Former United defender George Baldock passed away at the tender age of 31 years on October 9. He was found lifeless in the pool of his Athens home five months after he joined Greek outfit Panathinaikos. Before that move, he was a part of United for seven years and played 205 games for the club.
During the Sheffield derby on Sunday, a Wednesday fan appeared to display a message on his phone that said, “Where’s Baldock?” In a statement, Wednesday said it was aware of the incident and condemned the “abhorrent act.”

On the pitch, the Blades secured a slender win against Wednesday. Tyrese Campbell found the back of the net in the 50th minute, which proved to be the decisive goal.
With the win, United climbed to the second spot in the Championship table and went level with Sunderland, who sit at the top with 31 points and a superior goal difference.

Fans on social media were enraged at the fan’s actions during the Sheffield derby. Despite the rivalry being a heated one, they were not happy with someone mocking the death of a beloved footballer.
A few underlined that these supporters should be banned while others pointed out the undercurrent of disrespect in the entire move. Some stated that some lines should never be crossed while others simply pointed out the tone-deaf nature of this entire incident.

Sheffield United will be playing Coventry next in their Championship fixture. They have been on a four-match winning run, which started with a victory against Stoke City. They also picked up wins against Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, and city rivals Wednesday during this run.
