It appears that whenever Dillon Brooks steps out on the court, he wants to have a go at a legend, and this time it is Stephen Curry. In a closely-fought match, the Phoenix Suns defeated the Golden State Warriors 99-98 at the Mortgage Matchup Center on Thursday night. In the final minute of the fourth quarter, with 38 seconds left, Brooks took a cheap shot at Curry’s rib cage and received a Flagrant 1 foul when the Suns were up by five points.

This is not the first time that Dillon Brooks has been involved in a heated moment this season. The Suns guard has gotten on the wrong side of LeBron James a couple of times and was ejected from the game for his actions in their most recent clash. The ejection on his last outing did not seem to have much of an effect on Brooks as he continues to embrace the “villain” tag associated with his name.

The controversial foul did not matter in the end as Brooks emerged as the winner after another vintage performance, scoring 24 points to go along with seven rebounds. He put in an impressive defensive display, as he restricted Stephen Curry to just 15 points. The Suns guard is currently averaging 21.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

The win on Thursday propelled the Suns to 15-12 and placed them at seventh in the Western Conference standings, while the Warriors dipped to 13-15 and have fallen to ninth in the standings. It is the Warriors’ third consecutive defeat since Curry returned to action after missing five games due to injury.

The two will lock horns again on December 20 at the Chase Center as Curry and the Warriors look to get back to winning ways.

Fans were left stunned after Dillon Brooks’ cheap shot to Stephen Curry’s ribs

The haters for Dillon Brooks keep on mounting. After taunting James in his previous game, he did not help his case on Thursday night after his flagrant foul. Fans took to social media to express their anger and disappointment in the former Houston Rockets star.

Dillon Brooks makes light of the situation

After being on the losing end several times over the last few seasons against the likes of James and Curry, Brooks is out for revenge. The 29-year-old is happy to play the villain role as long as his team ends up on the winning side.

Following the win, Brooks spoke about the incident with Curry and did not seem to be too bothered by it in the post-match interview.

I’ve got to do some soul searching. It’s the second time, and I’ll learn from it.

This is not the first time that Brooks has taken the spotlight for the wrong reasons against the Warriors and it certainly will not be the last. All eyes will be on Saturday when the two clash again.
