Fans love to watch Jelena Ostapenko on the court as the match promises to entertain them. Ostapenko is famous for her outbursts and her issues with line calls, a glimpse of which fans saw on Monday (July 8) during her fourth-round match against Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva on Court 1 of Wimbledon.

During the Latvian’s 6-2, 6-3 win over 35th-ranked Putintseva (who ended World No.1 Iga Swiatek‘s campaign by beating her in three sets), Ostapenko challenged a line call. It was not at all a close call as the ball landed way outside the line. Ostapenko has made it clear that she doesn’t trust the Hawkeye system.

Honestly, this live electronic system, I don’t know. Sometimes it feels like it makes some mistakes. Of course, we have to play. Sometimes I look at my team because I know I’m wrong, but I feel like some balls are pretty close, so I want to know what they think about the call.

Ostapenko will next face the winner of the fourth-round match between Danielle Collins and Barbora Krejcikova. She has never faced Collins before but met Krejcikova seven times and leads 5-2 in their head-to-head meetings.

The 27-year-old Latvian’s best performance at Wimbledon came in 2018 when she reached the semifinals. But she is a Grand Slam champion, winning the 2017 French Open by beating Simona Halep in three sets. She is a Wimbledon champion at the junior level, winning it in 2014.

This is one of my favorites on the tour. I won it in junior and I have great memories here. I feel like I’m playing perfect players, but I’m good at deciding moments. I think that’s the key, and I’m doing pretty okay.

Ostapenko is a former World No. 5 and has won eight titles on the WTA Tour. This season, the World No. 14 has lifted two titles, the Adelaide International and the Linz Open.
