Real Madrid claimed an impressive 3-0 victory over Girona in a recent La Liga encounter, thanks to a brilliant individual display from midfielder Jude Bellingham. The 21-year-old England international won the MOTM award for scoring a goal and assisting another. 

Los Blancos came off the back of a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Athletic Bilbao, losing their chance to move to the top of the La Liga table. However, the club is now within striking distance of their arch-rivals Barcelona, following their 3-0 win over Girona.

They are now just two points behind the Catalan giants with 36 points and also have a match in hand. Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and Kylian Mbappe registered their names on the scoresheet, in the 36th, 55th minute and 62nd minute, respectively.

Bellingham continued with his impressive form, by scoring the opener surprisingly against the run of play. He then created the second goal for teammate Guler, setting him free with a brilliant through ball.

The 21-year-old was, however, substituted in the 61st minute, after complaining of discomfort in his left leg. He has now taken his season tally to five goals and seven assists in 20 matches. He also won his 14th MOTM award for the club, a remarkable feat which very few players could achieve at Real Madrid.

Nonetheless, with Mbappe back on the scoresheet and Bellingham in great form, Real Madrid will be looking to bring their UCL campaign back on track with a win against Atalanta. The club will also be boosted by the return of Brazilian starlet and 2024 Ballon d’Or runner up, Vinicius Jr.

Fans praise Jude Bellingham for MOTM display against Girona

Social media users and Real Madrid fans heaped praise on Jude Bellingham for his MOTM display against Girona. The 21-year-old midfielder ended the match with a goal and an assist, marking his fifth straight goal in five consecutive La Liga appearances.

Fans shared their reactions on social media, with many of them claiming that winning the Man of the Match award is too easy for Bellingham. A few others claimed that no football fan can ever hate Jude Bellingham. One fan suggested that Real Madrid’s top summer signing, Kylian Mbappe, might overtake the Englishman soon. Another exclaimed that Madrid’s future is secure.

It has been a brilliant return to form for Bellingham, who hadn’t scored a single goal this season until the month of November. Meanwhile, against Girona, Mbappe scored his 11th goal of the season, silencing critics for the while.
