Subdued by a string of losses on the trot, former 2-time WWE Champion AJ Styles approached Nick Aldis this week on SmackDown. The Phenomenal One begged the SmackDown GM for one more shot at the Undisputed WWE title. He reminded Aldis of his recent exploits, wherein at Backlash in France, Styles almost upstaged Cody Rhodes for the gold. And a week later, he pushed Randy Orton to the limit in a first-round matchup for the King of the Ring crown.

Going through a tsunami of emotions, Nick Aldis said he would’ve personally sanctioned the idea of AJ Styles getting his rematch for the world title. However, citing his professional impediments, the former NWA Champion shunned Styles. The SmackDown higher-up told the veteran wrestler that title shots are earned and it will take time for AJ to get there.

Just then, the Georgia Pitbull said something that reminded everyone how close he is to hanging up his boots for good. The 46-year-old looked Nick in the eyes and said that he didn’t have time. That, of course, was a reality check for the fans that the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion is on the precipice of calling it a day on his in-ring career.

It would be interesting to see where Styles heads after that faceoff with general manager Aldis on SmackDown. The former OC leader recently weighed-in on the idea of potentially facing The Rock somewhere down the road. However, for that to happen, there’s a ton of boxes to be checked. Hopefully, the fans will get to know the next step in AJ’s imminent future in the weeks to come.

WWE Universe begs AJ Styles for more after his retirement tease on SmackDown

Without a hitch of doubt, AJ Styles alluded to his impending WWE retirement on SmackDown. He might be in for a year or two before bowing out. Reacting on similar lines, the netizens had a field day on X.

Almost everyone is torn by that line-drop from Styles, where he basically affirmed that he’s running out of time. A fan even posted a meme-inspired image envisioning AJ’s last match at WrestleMania next year. While the majority leaned on The Phenomenal One’s last stretch, one pointed out that he could win this year’s Money in the Bank contract.

Another one fantasy booked Nick Aldis’ WWE in-ring debut by having Styles replicate those horrors on the former Magnus like The Phenomenal One did to Shane McMahon en route to WrestleMania 33. However, it remains to be seen whether it ever comes to fruition.
