Las Palmas frustratingly ‘ruined’ FC Barcelona’s 125th anniversary by beating them 2-1. The game, hosted by the Spanish giants at Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, saw the La Liga leaders struggle to create chances.

Barcelona went a goal down minutes after the second half kicked off. Former Barca man Sandro Ramirez, who had already riled up the crowd after colliding with Alejandro Balde in the first half, found the back of the net.

Balde was unable to continue after colliding with Ramirez and needed to be helped off the pitch. A goal down, Hansi Flick‘s quick thinking saw a triple substitution that resulted in Raphinha pulling his side level with a sublime strike from outside the box.

The hosts’ joy was short-lived, however, as Fabio Silva scored the winner six minutes later. A quick pass from midfield opened up Barca’s defense, giving Silva an easy opportunity to beat Inaki Pena. With the defeat, Barcelona now risk going two points behind rivals Real Madrid if the Los Blancos win both their games in hand.

Fans react to Barcelona’s third consecutive La Liga game without a win

Barcelona have been unable to win a match in La Liga since the 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad on November 11. Reacting to the defeat to Las Palmas, a fan commented that Barcelona were repeating their history of falling apart in the later stages of the season.

Another fan complained that Hansi Flick and his men were letting the league title slip away from their hands. Rival fans, however, mocked Barcelona supporters for acting like they already won the league in October.

Here are some of the fan reactions:

Despite the loss, fans acknowledged Raphinha’s impressive display and praised his unbelievable strike from outside the box. Some also found solace in the fact that Flick has vowed to get things back on track.

With Barca’s manager refusing to make excuses for the current form, one can only expect the club to do much better against Mallorca and Real Betis in the coming week. Real Madrid, on the other hand, have games against Getafe on Sunday and Athletic Club four days later. The Los Blancos themselves are recovering from a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.
