It was a dramatic win for Liverpool in their pre-season friendly against Arsenal that saw Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho finding the back of the net. In the 13th minute mark, the Egyptifan Salah managed to fire home the opener while 21 minutes later Carvalho carved the second to assert their dominion.
Despite Kai Havertz finding the back of the net for the Gunners and a late storm following through, Arne Slot and his men managed to held on to their nerves to clinch a thrilling win. Before Liverpool found the second goal, there was a crazy moment in the 29th minute where a corner, in favour of the Reds, saw them flipping in the set piece with a bizarre positioning of the players.
The Reds were circling around the Arsenal defence before the ball was flipped in and they eventually stormed into the box in that very circular shape with the referee blowing the whistle for an infringement which put an end to the intriguing move. Fans were quick to spot that and highlighted the fact that this was the beginning of a new era under Arne Slot. But the response came with a pinch of humor, as they tried to decipher what exactly was going on in the box.
Ideally, a conventional corner that is being looped into the box would see a handful of attackers hoping to latch onto it in whatever way possible while two or three players remain as the back-up just on the edge or outside the box to smash home a possible rebound. However, with a sphere forming around the box, the fans felt that it was definitely enjoyable enough, at least, if not a productive one.
A glance at Liverpool’s pre-season so far
Liverpool has been off to a fine start in the pre-season as they toppled Real Betis 1-0 in the opener with Dominik Szoboszlai finding the solitary strike to power them across the finish line. With Arne Slot taking over the reins, fans pointed out that the display against the Spanish side was a testimony to the kind of passing football up for grabs.

With their upcoming friendly against their arch-rivals, Manchester United, which is slated to be played on August 3, there are lofty expectations from the fans where they would definitely like their team to registering a win, no matter the cost. But before the much-anticipated battle to take shape, fans had their fair shares of laugh, savouring the new corner system.
With all said and done, it is going to be intriguing to see how does Arne Slot lines up his team ahead of the upcoming season. Mo Salah will continue to be their best bet while the remainder of the side will be desperate to mount another challenge for the title against the defending champions, Manchester City.
