Cagliari had a bad day out at the Unipol Domus stadium in Sardinia, suffering their second straight defeat in the Italian league, this season. They lost 4-0 to high-flying Napoli, with Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Romelu Lukaku, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Alessandro Buongiorno scoring a goal each. The club now lies in the 19th position on the Serie A table, with just two points from four matches, kick-starting the Davide Nicola era in the worst possible way.
In a surprising turn of events, the club mascot ‘Pully’ was seen apologizing along with the players, to the fans who raised multiple concerns. The players walked up to the home fans after the defeat, and were scolded for their poor performance. ‘Pully’, Cagliari’s mascot representing a pink flamingo, also took blame for the defeat. The match had previously been halted, due to a feud between home and away supporters. Players from both the sides had to step in to calm the situation, for the match to be resumed.
