Not just the fans, even Karen Khachanov was not happy with the way Ugo Humbert celebrated during their semifinal match at the Paris Masters on Saturday (November 2). Humbert won that match 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-3 and reached his maiden ATP Masters 1000 final.

Khachanov, the 2018 Paris Masters champion, injured his thigh during a crucial moment and Humbert, who rather celebrated after every point, did not stop his celebration when Khachanov struggled to keep himself in the match in the third set. The Russian also called for a medical time-out, but that did not help him as he succumbed to the injury and ended up losing the match.

After the match, Khachanov and Humbert exchanged some words during the handshake and later revealed what he told the Frenchman.

I told him at the net to show more respect. He has no idea how to behave. I’m always about fair play. I will congratulate him if he behaves like a normal person. That’s all I can say.

As Humbert defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the fourth round, a fan mocked the former for thinking that he had become an instant legend after beating the Spaniard

Check out a few reactions here:

Humbert, the seven-time title winner, has become the fifth Frenchman to reach the final of the Paris Masters. The win over Khachanov was also his 13th consecutive victory on France’s indoor hard courts as he won in Metz in 2023 and in Marseille this season.

Humbert is No. 14 in the live rankings but will reach a career-high ranking of No.11 if he beats Zverev in the final. Before securing a berth in the final, Zverev went past Holger Rune in straight sets in the final.

Zverev and Humbert have met twice on the ATP Tour and are 1-1 in their head-to-head encounters. They locked horns for the first time in the fourth round of the 2021 Halle Open, which Humbert won, and Zverev registered his win in the third round of the 2023 Paris Masters.
