Al-Nassr’s shaky form at the start of the season spanned out to another game which led to the parting of their former coach, Luis Castro. This is the second manager who has been shown the door since Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival and somehow the team’s form continues to wobble.
Luis Castro, who is 63, has overseen a wobbly overture to the latest season with a defeat against Al-Hilal in the Super Cup final followed by a draw against Al-Raed. Prior to Castro, it was Rudi Garcia who bade adieu to the job after failing to secure a prized silverware in the last season despite Ronaldo’s arrival four months prior. Apart from Ronaldo, he also had the services of Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte.

Despite a win against Al Feiha to get Castro a sigh of reprieve, things went back to a stutter as they drew against Al Ahli. In the first game of the AFC Champions League against Al-Shorta, Al-Nassr could only savor shared spoils despite securing an early lead through Sultan Al-Ghannam. Castro who has formerly coached Porto, failed to secure a major trophy ever since taking charge in July 2023.
Here is what X had to say about the departure of Luis Castro from Al-Nassr FC
