Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho brushed aside rumors linking Al-Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo to the Turkish club. The 39-year-old veteran forward, who has been enjoying a brilliant goal-scoring form despite his age, has been linked with a move out of Al-Nassr next year. 

The shocking rumor of Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential transfer and reunion with Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce emerged after the two had reportedly spoken on the phone. The Portuguese manager had asked Ronaldo about his availability next summer. Mourinho and Ronaldo share a great relationship from their Real Madrid days, in the early 2010s. The 39-year-old forward might also be looking for a way out of Al-Nassr, owing to the club’s inability to win any silverware. He will also be out of contract next summer.

However, Mourinho rebuffed those claims in a recent press conference. The ‘Special One’ exclaimed that he is more likely to catch up with Ronaldo over lunch, rather than a transfer. While branding the rumors of a transfer move as ‘ridiculous’, he stated that Ronaldo might come to Istanbul for a meal, as it is close to his playing nation, Saudi Arabia. Expressing contentment with the Fenerbahce squad he has at his disposal, Mourinho interestingly revealed that a player had to be ‘too good’ to join the team in January.

The rumors are ridiculous. Cristiano might come to Istanbul to eat because it’s right in the middle of the road between Saudi and Portugal. Or maybe he’ll come see his old friend Jose, we can eat at my hotel.

Nonetheless, Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have been enjoying a good run this season. They are placed second on the Turkish league table, and most recently secured a dominant 6-2 win over Kayserispor. Ronaldo’s side on the other hand, suffered their first league defeat to Al-Qadsiah, losing 2-1.

Football fans and social media users mocked Cristiano Ronaldo, after Jose Mourinho brushed aside rumors linking him with a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce. The Portuguese manager rubbished those claims, leading fans to conclude that Ronaldo got ‘rejected’ once again.

A few hilariously exclaimed that Ronaldo, who has now turned into a full-time YouTuber, had wished to join Mourinho’s side. Some others claimed that even the Portuguese boss knows that Cristiano is out of form, and is almost finished. However, the forward’s fans responded to them by claiming that the entire Turkish league would not be able to afford Ronado’s salary, per match-day. Here are some of the reactions:

Al-Nassr will however, lose one of their star strikers next year, as Anderson Talisca has reportedly agreed to join Fenerbahce. The Brazilian forward has agreed to join Jose Mourinho’s side in 2025. However, a fee has not been agreed for the 30-year-old’s transfer.
