Real Madrid have been enduring a difficult start to the new season, and the recent Spanish national team announcement has added to their worries. Fans reacted surprisingly as not a single Los Blancos star was called up for the national team, for the upcoming matches.

This also hints towards a significant change in the composition of the team. The last time there was no representation from the Madrid side was back in 2021, under former manager Luis Enrique. Enrique had excluded Real Madrid players even from important tournaments, including the 2021 Euros. Luis de La Fuente’s decision has irked fans, as it would mean that the team remains dominated by several Barcelona stars.

The last three Los Blancos players to have featured for Spain were Nacho, Dani Carvajal and Joselu, having appeared at the 2024 Euros. Carvajal’s injury has kept him out of the squad, while Nacho and Joselu have moved to the Middle East.

Real Madrid’s only Spanish players right now, include Lucas Vazquez, Jesus Vallejo, Dani Ceballos and Fran Garcia. They, however, lack considerable game time to make it to De La Fuente’s side. For many, this affects the future representation of the club on the national side.

Meanwhile, the latest Spanish squad will be led by stars Pedri, Dani Olmo, Alvaro Morata, Lamine Yamal and Aymeric Laporte. FC Porto starlet Samu Omorodion and Barcelona youngster Marc Casado have also been called up to the squad.
