Al-Hilal fans filled the stadium with Argentine star Lionel Messi‘s jerseys and chants, following their Saudi Super Cup triumph over Al-Nassr. Videos of the crowd chanting Messi’s name during the medal ceremony sparked reactions from fans.

The reigning Saudi PL champions, Al-Hilal, registered a thumping 4-1 over their arch-rivals, Al-Nassr, in the final of the Saudi Super Cup. This victory capped off one of their best seasons yet under manager Jorge Jesus, winning three titles this year. Meanwhile, they completed a second-half comeback by scoring four goals in just 17 minutes against Al-Nassr, to lift the Super Cup for the second consecutive year.

In an unexpected twist, Al-Hilal fans held up Lionel Messi‘s iconic number 10 jerseys after the match during the medal ceremony, showcasing his unmatched influence. They also chanted the his name, taking a jab at his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the Portuguese star was absent from the ceremony, having stormed down the tunnel without collecting his silver medal due to the frustrating defeat.

Additionally, fans spotted Al-Hilal star Neymar Jr., who is out with an injury, feeling the enthralling moment. The club had once been linked with the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, having offered a massive €1.5 billion contract, which he declined to join Inter Miami.

This is not the first time Ronaldo has faced Messi chants; he was previously penalized for making an obscene gesture in a similar situation during the King’s Cup final.

Al-Hilal skipper recreates Lionel Messi’s iconic FIFA World Cup celebration after Saudi Super Cup win

Al-Hilal captain Salem Al-Dawsari emulated Lionel Messi’s iconic FIFA World Cup victory celebration after his team defeated Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al-Nassr in the Saudi Super Cup final.

Al-Nassr led 1-0 at halftime in the final, but Al-Hilal took full control in the second half, ultimately winning 4-1. Captain Al-Dawsari added insult to Ronaldo’s loss, by mimicking Messi’s World Cup victory walk. After receiving the trophy, he slowly approached his teammates before lifting it in celebration with them.

Moreover, the iconic celebration has since been recreated several times, including by Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma after their recent World Cup victory.
