Vinicius Jr.’s troubles with the Brazilian national team do not seem to end. The Real Madrid man had a night to forget against Uruguay as he failed to make an impact in the 1-1 draw. A brilliant volley from Gerson salvaged a point for the hosts as Vinicius was made fun of for his inability to score for his country.

With a total of zero shots on target, Vinicius’ involvement in the game was limited to 17 passes. To make things worse, teammate and Barcelona star Raphinha fared much better for the Selecao.

Despite a lack of goal contributions, Raphinha played a direct part in Brazil’s equalizer. Uruguay opened the scoring in the 55th minute through Federico Valverde while Gerson levelled the proceedings seven minutes later.

Gerson fired a brilliant volley from the edge of the penalty area as the ball fell at his feet from a clearance. The draw meant that Brazil remained in fifth position with 18 points from 12 games in the World Cup qualifiers.

Fans react to Vinicius Jr.’s embarrassing performance

Following the frustrating draw, a fan commented that Vinicius Jr. should no longer have a prominent role in the Brazilian squad. Another laughed at him for even thinking that he deserved the Ballon d’Or over Rodri.

Despite having the most touches inside the box (10), it was difficult for a few to believe how Vinicius failed to make a difference in the game. A fan even joked at how the winger simply had another ‘cardio day’ by just running around and making no difference.

Here are some of the fan reactions:

Vinicius’ numbers are much better for Real Madrid, for whom he has scored 12 times and picked up four assists. He is set to return to action for his club when it takes on Leganes in La Liga before facing Liverpool at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League.
