Fans praised Vinicius Jr.‘s demeanor as the Brazilian gave a penalty scoring opportunity to fellow teammate Kylian Mbappe, during the club’s 2-0 win over Real Betis. The Frenchman was on strike twice, as he scored his first La Liga goals after a brief goal-drought.
Real Madrid were awarded a penalty after Vinicius Jr. was brought down in the box in the 75th minute of the match. The Brazilian forward, while racing to score a goal, knocked past goal-keeper Rui Silva, following which the referee pointed toward the spot. The foul, was however, up for debate as few pundits and Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini labeled the officials’ decision as an error, with the 70-year-old veteran manager also claiming that Vinicius had ‘dived’.
Despite calls for VAR intervention, Kylian Mbappe stepped up to take the penalty, which he sent past Silva to complete his brace and seal the victory for the home side. Vinicius, interestingly, handed the Frenchman to take the spot-kick, after having scored the previous one against Las Palmas last week. This shows manager Carlo Ancelotti‘s brilliant penalty selection process, also rubbishing claims of a fall-out between the two forwards, who often ‘refrain’ from passing the ball to each other.

Another Los Blancos star Brahim Diaz also appeared on the scene to encourage the Frenchman to take the penalty. Meanwhile, manager Ancelotti was also full of praise for Vinicius, also pointing to the harmony between the three forwards, Mbappe, Vini and Rodrygo.
