“Should be cancelled” – Fans protest Manchester City’s late winner as clip shows Bernardo Silva ‘interfering’ with goalkeeper
The decision to let John Stones' winner stand after Bernardo Silva was seen interfering with Jose Sa in the build-up remains controversial.

Manchester City claimed a crucial victory over Wolves on Sunday as John Stones headed the Cityzens to victory. Even though a lengthy VAR check had City fans on the edge, the goal ultimately went in City’s favor. The final score read 2-1 as City closed the gap between Liverpool to just one point.
A viral clip on social media has enraged rival fans. The video ‘clearly’ shows Bernardo Silva obstructing Jose Sa‘s view in the build-up to John Stones‘ goal. The Portuguese clearly forces himself onto Jose Sa as he tries to disturb the latter. Even though the VAR check scrutinized Silva and his actions, City achieved the goal. Ultimately, they walked away with all three points.
This brings attention to Wolves boss Gary O’Neil. The Wolves boss suggested that City benefits from a subconscious preference often gifted by referees in crucial moments.
This goal should be cancelled

Even though he did not suggest that Wolves were at a disadvantage during the VAR check, O’Neil’s words are a reminder that PGMOL and officiating in the Premier League still struggle with inconsistencies.
Fans react to Manchester City’s last-minute winner vs Wolves
A fan commented that Manchester City are ‘cheaters’ and that no trophy they win will help them evade their bad reputation. Another added that Gary O’Neil remains spot on, and the Premier League might penalize him. However, City fans pointed out how Arsenal often uses ‘dirty’ tactics during set pieces that remain constantly unpunished.
Even though there were calls for the winner to be struck down and for points to be shared, a fan stated that City managed to run away with all three points. English VAR remains the worst in Europe. Others opined that oil money keeps City from away from penalization. However, a fan confidently argued that Silva’s action did not warrant a VAR check and that any question of cutting it down was invalid.
If holding the gk gloves was given as a goal then this is a fair goal pic.twitter.com/SGsduFszkf

Remember, there is no offsides on a corner kick UNTIL the moment of the header.

Don't know what to say about English VAR.. it's the worst one in Europe for sure pic.twitter.com/x4NKaHXnSP

No other team gets away with this kind of thing this regularly.

Granted, no other team has owners who pay Premier League officials to referee in other countries.
He interfered when onside, you can't be offside from a corner u idiot

From Arne Slot’s frustrated reaction at various parts of the game against Chelsea to Gary O’Neil’s claims, it is clear that many are dissatisfied with Premier League officiating. City plays their next game in the League against Southampton, before which they will host Sparta Praha in the Champions League.
