Among the long list of legends who graced the Netflix premiere of Raw last night was Hulk Hogan. The 71-year-old was accompanied by his long-term affiliate, “The Mouth of the South,” Jimmy Hart. When Hogan proceeded to get his shtick in on the microphone, the crowd booed heavily. It seemed as if Hulk almost had to run through his promo and leave the place.
Today, during The Pat McAfee Show, one of the crew members cosplayed The Hulkster. Dressed up as a second-rate Hogan, he was asked why the fans rained down on him at the Intuit Dome. The guy mimicking the WWE HOF’er blatantly claimed that he wasn’t the one on the receiving end of it, but Jimmy Hart. This skit from McAfee’s show is making the rounds on the internet.
Dr. Chris Featherstone has a tidbit on whether Hogan was mentally prepared to receive such a negative response from the WWE Universe in Los Angeles. According to him, the real-life Terry Bollea thought that his political endorsement of Donald Trump would’ve played a factor.
He allegedly had in mind a 50/50 scenario knowing he was stepping into the liberal city of LA. And, for the unversed, Hogan’s hero, Trump did lose from the State of California in the 2024 US presidential elections.
Nonetheless, a major part of why WWE decided to put the retired wrestler on screen was the new partnership the two sides had agreed on. Hogan’s Real American Beer has signed a multi-year deal with WWE. As part of it, the beer’s logo will be featured on the corners of the ring mat on every episode of Raw from now onwards.
Netizens stay divided on Pat McAfee’s crew ridiculing Hulk Hogan
As evident by live crowd reaction to Hulk Hogan on Raw, the WWE fans don’t think highly of him at all. In fact, even those on social media can’t stand The Hulkster. Reacting to the aforementioned skit on The Pat McAfee Show, many thought that it was absolutely spot on.
Some who weren’t appeased by the theatrics and seemed to be Hogan supporters condemned the need of that parody. A couple of them even wondered if this would land Pat McAfee in hot water.
Few of them were miffed by Pat’s double standards as he was quite aptly glazing the wrestling icon on commentary during Raw. Anyway, the former Colts punter is now back with WWE full-time to lend his voice to the red brand.
