The expectations are high as Manchester United prepares to play its first game under new boss Ruben Amorim. The former Sporting CP boss will manage his first game in the Premier League against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

As his managerial debut edges all the more closer, Amorim revealed the one thing he’ll never do at the club, even if it gets him ‘fired’! To begin with, United and former manager Erik ten Hag had several problems towards the end.

Out of the several issues, the incident with Jadon Sancho stood out. While Ten Hag publicly called out Sancho, claiming that his intensity in training was not enough, the latter denied the claim.

Amorim, in his most recent press conference, ruled out the possibility of something similar happening during his tenure.

I will defend the players until the end. I can lose my job before I put one player in front of the bus.

While reports came out stating that Amorim was ‘shocked’ with the lack of intensity in training, it remains to be seen how United will perform under the 39-year-old.

Fans react to Ruben Amorim’s confident claim

In the same press conference, Ruben Amorim outlined that he thinks ‘he’s the one’ to lead Manchester United. Reacting to his pledge to never turn on his players, a fan commented that he is clear of Erik ten Hag for instantly doing the opposite every time he faces difficulty. Fans also called for players to give it their all for the badge and that it would be a shame if they didn’t.

Additionally, Amorim’s passion and desire to succeed at United has made several fans back the manager. Despite all the positives, some fans weren’t liking his confident claims.

A fan said that a manager should let the results do the talking and refrain from saying too much about his goals and motives at the club. While putting the players first is likely to improve team morale, it is too early to back or turn against the Portuguese.

As things stand, United is in 13th position with 15 points from the first 11 games. With just a four-point gap separating the Red Devils from the top four, one can’t put it beyond Amorim to restore the club to ‘where it belongs’.
