Real Madrid fans have been left deeply disappointed, after the club’s first-choice center-back Eder Militao suffered a serious knee injury, ruling him out for the rest of the season. It is Militao’s second consecutive ACL injury, that he has suffered over the last two seasons.
The Brazilian defender was taken off at the half-hour mark, during Real Madrid’s 4-0 win over Osasuna. He had collapsed on the pitch after appearing to get his boots caught in the turf. He fell down in the opposition half, clutching his right leg while screaming in pain. The club later confirmed that the 26-year-old suffered a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament as well as damage to the meniscus. Militao is set to undergo surgery in the coming weeks and will miss out for the rest of the 2024-25 season.
Eder Militao was stretchered off, after receiving medical attention on the pitch. He left the pitch teary-eyed, with his face hidden under his shirt. It marks his second ACL injury in two years, after he suffered one in his left knee in the opening match of last season, missing out on most of the 2023-24 season. Militao’s injury adds to Carlo Ancelotti’s increased selection worries in defense, with David Alaba and Dani Carvajal also out. Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo also sustained injuries against Osasuna.

Nonetheless, the Los Blancos registered a massive 4-0 win over their rivals, ending their two-match losing streak. Vinicius Jr. scored an impressive hat-trick to help his side secure the win. It also keeps Real Madrid in contention for the La Liga title, behind league leaders Barcelona.
