Lewandowski took his season tally to 31 goals and three assists in 33 matches. No other player from Europe’s top five leagues has scored more goals this season than the 36-year-old Polish number nine. He also became the first player to score 19+ goals in his first 22 La Liga matches of a season since Lionel Messi in the 2019-20 season.

Meanwhile, Barcelona had to play the last 30 minutes of the match with a man down. Midfielder Fermin Lpez was sent off in the 62nd minute for a nasty challenge on Djibril Sow. He had only come on as a substitute to replace injured Ronald Araujo early in the match.
