Unfortunately, the timing could not have been any worse. The draw was just announced for the Olympics and Nadal was placed in the draw where he is most likely to face Novak Djokovic in the second round itself. Fans have started to even use this excuse to blame Nadal for the rumors of the injury. “Already scared of Djokovic,” a fan commented on X which was soon deleted.

However, these rumors soon became a reality as Nadal’s coach Carlos Moya confirmed that they had faced a setback and would get back on Nadal’s health after 48 hours. He also confirmed that they canceled practice to let Nadal recover and hope for the best after the 48-hour wait.

Take a look at some of the reactions on the internet for this new development:

With the Spaniard set to face his long-time rival Djokovic, this would have been the match of the tournament, but now it may not even take place. Moreover, if Nadal were to pull out of the games, Carlos Alcaraz, his doubles partner, would also not have a chance to play doubles and would be forced to stick to singles.
