LaVar Ball, father of Bulls guard Lonzo Ball and Hornets star LaMelo Ball, had his right foot amputated Wednesday due to a “serious medical issue,” per TMZ Sports. Despite the procedure, Ball remains in “good spirits.” LaMelo recently visited his father to offer support.

LaVar was beaming as he posed for a picture with LaMelo, 23, which seems to have been taken outside their Chino Hills, California, home. This was just before his youngest son scored 27 points in an incredible victory over the Lakers.

On Thursday, the Hornets point guard posted the photo to his Instagram story. In the picture, his father was seen standing with the assistance of a knee scooter.

LaMelo Ball’s post garnered immense reactions from the NBA world, with many left impressed regarding the ‘father’ LaVar has been. Fans flooded their socials with positive messages towards LaVar and LaMelo Ball. Although Melo did not remark on it during Wednesday’s victory against the Lakers, his online post was the first occasion one of his sons had publicly addressed his recent operation.

Notably, over the past ten years, LaVar has established himself by putting his three boys in the public eye. This starts with Lonzo Ball playing for the Chicago Bulls and LaMelo Ball playing for the Hornets. In addition, his third son, LiAngelo Ball did not have success in basketball. He decided to change his career to a professional rapper.
