One of the biggest upsets this year has to be Belal Muhammad’s welterweight title loss against Jack Della Maddalena. Before the fight, Muhammad was riding an incredible wave of momentum, making the outcome even more shocking for many. He disappointed a lot of fans in the bout, failing to deliver the performance everyone had confidently expected from him.

His mistake cost him the belt entirely and opened the door for harsh criticism from many of his dedicated haters. Former UFC veteran Nate Diaz also watched the fight live and recently posted the video of his instant reaction. In the viral video, the retired UFC fighter talked about taking on Muhammad in a potential bout.

Sh*t, I’ll fight Belal’s as. I think I would beat the sh*t out of Belal Muhammad.

Diaz retired from the UFC in 2023 after beating Tony Ferguson in what became his final Octagon appearance. Since that fight, Diaz transitioned into boxing, exploring new opportunities while maintaining his signature Stockton toughness and gangster personality. His first boxing bout was against Jake Paul, where he lost, but still proved durable and entertained fans with resilience.

Later, he secured a win over his old UFC rival Jorge Masvidal, reminding everyone of his temperament in an entertaining bout. Now the Stockton fighter is eager for a UFC comeback, eyeing another run to the top of the promotion. Recently, Diaz talked about being interested in the trilogy fight against Conor McGregor, given the massive pay-per-view opportunity.

Apart from that, Diaz also talked about the symbolic BMF title, which was started by him and wanted to fight Max Holloway for it. He also shared his intentions to fight the former featherweight champion, Ilia Topuria, if UFC gives him a chance. However, for his weight and availability, fighting Muhammad makes the most sense and fans agree on that too.

During the UFC 314 main event, Belal Muhammad didn’t perform as his team had planned, making several costly mistakes throughout critical exchanges and rounds. He recently admitted those mistakes openly, showing accountability and accepting that he over-relied on his striking. The fighter stated he takes full responsibility for the loss, emphasizing growth while not feeling emotionally defeated by the disappointing result.

According to Muhammad, the fight felt close and competitive, believing it realistically could’ve gone either way entering the fifth round. Currently, ‘Bully B’ understands that he won’t be getting an immediate rematch and remains prepared to fight top contenders soon. Nevertheless, here are some reactions to Nate Diaz’s latest comments on Muhammad.

As expected, many fans mocked Diaz for claiming that he would beat Muhammad in a fight. Despite the public criticism, most MMA fans understand the dominance Muhammad brings into the cage and the comments were a prove of that. On the other hand, many suggested that the former champion call for that fight in order to make huge money with an easy fight.

Nevertheless, Muhammad is currently focused on reclaiming his lost title and believes he’s just one win away from another shot. He has already mentioned top contenders like Shavkat Rakhmonov, Ian Garry, Sean Brady, and Kamaru Usman as potential opponents in upcoming fights.

Muhammad aims to beat one of them next, proving he deserves another chance at UFC gold after his recent setback. In this scenario, fighting Nate Diaz seems unlikely right now, but anything is possible if the UFC makes the right offer. It will be interesting to see whether the Stockton native commits to his intentions to make a UFC comeback.
