A few hours after Carlos Alcaraz successfully defended his Wimbledon title by beating former World No.1 Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4), Netflix announced that a docuseries chronicling the Spaniard’s 2024 season will be released next year.
While the streaming service had hinted about this on its website in March, it has now picked the perfect timing to make it official. Alcaraz has excelled this season despite making a slow start. During the Sunshine Doubles, he earned his first title of the year at Indian Wells.
The 21-year-old followed it up by winning his maiden French Open title, becoming the youngest player since Rafael Nadal to win it. With the Wimbledon title secured on Sunday (July 14), he now has three big titles this season and is expected to win a lot more this year. Next up, he will be teaming up with Nadal for the 2024 Paris Olympics men’s doubles.
Netflix revealed that the series will take fans closer than ever to Alcaraz and show them a behind-the-scenes view of his historical year.

This is not Netflix’s first attempt at a tennis docu-series. Break Point, which followed several ATP and WTA tennis stars in 2022 and 2023, ran for two seasons before getting canceled in February.

I'm conflicted both excited for Carlos and somewhat skeptical about this. It's seems like a bad omen. You did one on Naomi Osaka when she won her 4gh GS and her tennis career took a nose dive after that.

Looks like you picked one hell of a season to follow the boy genius…

Last year, Alcaraz failed to win any title after winning Wimbledon. He will be hoping that the same fate doesn’t repeat this year, especially with Netflix’s cameras following every move he makes.
