Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres continued his impressive goal-scoring form, netting four goals for Sweden in a match against Azerbaijan. The 26-year-old was praised for his blistering form by fans, who labeled him a ‘goal-machine’.
Gyokeres netted four goals in a 6-0 win over Azerbaijan in the Nations League, overtaking Erling Haaland as the competition’s top scorer. He has now scored nine goals, against Haaland’s seven, and also has the most assists. Against Azerbaijan, Gyokeres scored his two first-half goals, followed by two second-half strikes.
His third goal was a peculiar one, as a result of an error by defender Zamig Aliyev. Gyokeres was also involved in the buildup for Dejan Kulusevksi’s opening goal in the 10th minute. The 26-year-old, with his four goals, took his season tally to 32 goals in 24 matches. Gyokeres is also the UCL top scorer with five goals and the Portuguese League highest goal scorer with 16 goals.
He has been one of Europe’s top players this season with the most goal contributions, 39 for both club and country. His promising goal-scoring exploits have made him a transfer target for a host of clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal. FC Barcelona are also interested in signing the talented forward.

However, a major hindrance in Gyokeres’ transfer to another club would be his massive €100 million release clause. Clubs might find it difficult to trigger his huge release clause at Sporting CP.
