Fans were left enraged over Watford’s goal against Manchester City being disallowed, during a Carabao Cup clash between the two sides, and they shared their reactions on social media. This resulted in the Premier League giants securing a narrow 2-1 win over their opponents.
Watford forward Kwadwo Baah dribbled the ball from the inside of his own half, beyond the Manchester City defense, before firing a low shot past goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. It could have helped the visitors grasp control over the match, which was ultimately won by the home side with a 2-1 scoreline. Referee David Webb ruled that the German forward had fouled City defender Kaden Braithwaite, on his way to score the goal. The referee then ruled out the goal, in favor of Manchester City.
The Watford fans and players were left puzzled over the decision, and the club posted a clip on its official TikTok page taking a dig at their opponents. The viral video compared Baah’s disallowed goal to Man City’s goal during a Premier League outing. Erling Haaland had then pushed a defender to the floor in a very similar manner, before putting the ball into the back of the net. The Norwegian forward’s goal was deemed legal by the referee, whereas Watford’s goal was denied despite being similar.

Nonetheless, Manchester City proceeded to the next round of the EFL Cup, helped by goals from Matheus Nunes and Jeremy Doku, against Watford. Meanwhile, Tom Ince grabbed a late consolation for the visitors in the dying minutes, as he failed to secure a draw.
