Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with several top clubs in Europe for the last few transfer windows. With Ruben Amorim‘s appointment at Manchester United, fans are also calling for him to follow in his former manager’s footsteps.

The striker made headlines once again as he both scored and assisted in a 2-1 for Sweden in the Nations League. As things stand, Gyokeres is still at Sporting, although Barcelona, United, and City have been linked with the player.

Gyokeres’ most recent game against Slovakia gave a glimpse of why fans desperately want him at their respective clubs. Only three minutes had passed when the front two combined to put the Sporting striker through on goal.

Gyokeres’ right-footed shot eluded the reach of Martin Dubravka as match commentators hailed him as the most inevitable goal scorer on the planet. Even though David Hancko equalized for the visitors, Gyokeres saved the day by setting up strike partner and Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak.

Fans react to Viktor Gyokeres’ impressive performance against Slovakia

With Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres continuing to impress with his goals, a fan commented that Manchester United should do everything in their power to bring him to Old Trafford. Several others also had similar thoughts.

Gyokeres has 28 goals and seven assists in 23 outings in all competitions this season. Besides his overall tally in club football, his numbers have been equally impressive in the Nations League.

The 26-year-old is averaging one goal per game and has eight goal contributions in five games. A fan opined that he is ‘clearly’ better than Erling Haaland at the moment and that Roben Amorim should convince him to join United.

As things stand, Gyokeres is contracted to Sporting till 2028. The club has also placed a €100 million release clause on the striker, which will most definitely be matched by some club in the next few months.
