Manchester United was up against Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night as Ruben Amorim‘s side looked to maintain its unbeaten run in the competition. Even though the Red Devils managed to claim a 2-1 win, the headlines went Andre Onana‘s way, but for all the wrong reasons.

The United keeper gifted the hosts the first goal of the game as he made a horrendous pass inside the penalty area. Onana’s poorly placed pass was picked up by Pavel Sulc, who effortlessly found Matej Vydra arriving inside the danger area.

The No. 11 perfectly carried out his duty as he fired the ball into an empty net. Onana later redeemed himself by letting in no goals henceforth, while a brace from Rasmus Hojlund took him out of the line of fire.

After fulltime, opposition boss Miroslav Koubek took another dig at the Cameroonian keeper. Speaking to the press, the Viktoria Plzen boss said that he’d ordered his players to ‘shoot from everywhere’! Onana made a total of just one save in the 90 minutes he played. Despite his error, United maintained its unbeaten streak in the UEL.

Fans react to Andre Onana’s hilarious mistake

Manchester United‘s No. 24 has racked up a reputation for making costly and unforced errors. The game against Viktoria Plzen only reinforced the same, as a fan complained that he would eventually cost United ‘everything’.

Reacting to what Plzen’s boss said about Andre Onana in the press conference, a fan commented that every single team will follow suit henceforth. One supporter couldn’t help but imagine the destruction Pep Guardiola and co. would cause when City and United meet in the Manchester Derby in two days’ time.

A rival fan joked that Ruben Amorim won’t be at the club by the end of the season if Onana keeps up his antics. A fan woefully claimed that Onana’s been quite good this season and wanted to remind fans how he ‘really’ plays.

As things stand, Manchester United is 7th in the Europa League standings with 3 wins and 3 draws (12 points). The club has a considerably difficult set of games coming up in December against City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United. Onana had already conceded 18 goals in the PL and 8 in Europe.
