On Monday, the TGL league of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy announced their schedule for its inaugural season. With the action set to get underway in 2025, the ticket prices of the event were also revealed by the league.
Golf fans who are interested in watching the action live can register themselves for early access through the TGL website. A total of 1,500 fans will get the chance to catch the action close to the field. The presale of the early access tickets goes live on October 28.
According to reports from Golf Magic, the price of the single match tickets starts at $160. While it is comparatively cheaper than the price of the Ryder Cup tickets, they are still expensive compared to the prices of a major championship.

This revelation has ignited some debate among golf enthusiasts on social media. Golf insider Christopher Powers compared the price of the TGL and Ryder Cup tickets on X and asked which was the more “egregious” price.
What’s the more egregious price ?
— Christopher Powers (@CPowers14) October 21, 2024
$160 for TGL (watching guys hit into a screen)
$750 for Ryder Cup (handful of groups on the course, might not even get that close to the action, but get to wait on line for food and non-alcoholic beverages which are included!)
What a toss up
Fans unpleased with TGL ticket prices
As soon as the price for the tickets was revealed, several fans were left unpleased. They would take to their social media account and voice their displeasure regarding the high ticket prices of the TGL league.
While some set of golf fans claimed they would rather play real golf than pay $160 to watch TGL, some just straight up refused to make a purchase and called it a “Total Flop“.
Check out some more reactions from fans on X regarding this topic below:
I can not see the appeal for watching this in person. Love seeing great golf courses in person but this is like paying to go to a bar to watch a game.

Total flop.

Worse than Sun Day Red.
What are we doing charging anything over $40? nobody is asking for this let alone for $160.. I’d rather go play real golf lmao
— Nick Novinsky (@NickNovinsky) October 21, 2024
$160? Maybe $16. Seems like a stretch to justify something. If you want people to show up and garner support, make it inexpensive and then you’ll find the supply & demand

They’re charging to watch SIM golf ? ? ?♂️

This has potential to flop harder than the XFL did in 2001 because no one willing wants to watch these guys play topgolf with a retractable green when all they need to do is play 9 holes Tuesday alt shot at the course they play
— Roman_hnatiuk (@Roman_hnatiuk) October 21, 2024
??? absolutely not! You could get way more entertainment going to Roger Dunn and watch the hacks beat it for free!

Hard pass.

I paid $165 for Sunday at the president's cup and got to stand 5 feet from any golfer I wanted to follow. Kind of laughable.

Hell nah- for a sim??? ???

Only time will tell whether the fans change their stance on these ticket prices. For those fans who are interested in watching the action unfold on TV, they can catch all 15 games live on ESPN and ESPN2.
The TGL will start on January 7, 2025, when Xander Schauffele‘s New York Golf Club faces off against Ludvig Aberg‘s Bay Golf Club. Whereas the team of founders, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, will battle against each other on January 27, in the fourth match of the season.
