“Bet Luka and Klay make more” – Fans spark new ‘Splash Brothers’ debate as Buddy Hield joins Stephen Curry at Warriors
Former 76ers player Buddy Heild has been traded to the Warriors in a sign-in-player trade deal.
Stephen Curry, Buddy Hield, Luka Doncic and Klay Thompson
Former Golden State Warriors’ iconic point guard Klay Thompson departed the franchise after failing to agree on his contract extension. Interestingly, the Warriors did not waste any time in finding Thompson’s replacement as they added Buddy Hield to their star-studded squad in a sign-in-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
It’s interesting to note that, over the last 5 NBA seasons, Hield has made more threes (1,322) than the Warriors’ legendary 3-point shooter Stephen Curry (1,264). This particular stat impressed the DubNation who started terming Hield and Curry as the new “Splash Brothers”. In addition, Thompson signed for the Dallas Mavericks joining the likes of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
This sparked a debate between the Warriors and the Mavs’ fans on various social media platforms. It’s interesting to note that, the Mavs reached the 2024 NBA Finals and Thompson adding to their roster makes matters even more interesting.
On the contrary, the Warriors were very poor in the 2023-24 NBA season, performing below expectations despite having the likes of Curry, Draymond Green, and Thompson. The DubNation will be hoping for some significant improvement by their side and the experienced players in the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.
Stephen Curry once hilariously trolled his new teammate Buddy Hield
The Philadelphia 76ers’ Buddy Hield has been traded to the Golden State Warriors in a sign-in-player trade deal. Interestingly Hield will pair up with Warriors’ star Stephen Curry in his new side and will be looking to make a mark alongside him in the new NBA season. However, back in 2018 when Hield was playing for the Sacramento Kings, a hilarious moment occurred between Hield and his new teammate Curry.
When Sacramento Kings player Buddy Hield went out of bounds to turn the ball over, injured Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry got up and laughed, to which Hield reacted jokingly. It’s important to note that, Hield will sign a two-year, $21 million contract with a player option in the fourth year with the Warriors.
Also, Hield had 42 starts for the Indiana Pacers and 76ers last season, averaging 12.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Hence, it will be intriguing to watch how Hield will perform in his new side with his new teammates in the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season, with the huge task of filling the void of the departed Thompson looming large over him.
