There have hardly been such games in collegiate football where fans couldn’t hold themselves from jumping on the field in celebration. This Sunday, they couldn’t even wait for the game to finish as the Colorado Buffaloes fans stormed the field, causing complete chaos to celebrate the team’s dramatic comeback.
Seeing how this season was going after the disappointment last season, fans seemed to be losing faith in Deion Sanders’ effect. But all their concerns vanished in thin air as the Buffs scored a remarkable 38-31 overtime feat against Baylor Bears.
As the match proceeded to overtime, Colorado running back Micah Welch took the lead by scoring a one-yard touchdown. Baylor still had a chance to win but as they went in for the two-yard line, Colorado star Travis Hunter forced the Bears’ running back Dominic Richardson to fumble, thus resulting in Colorado’s startling win.
The players were just getting the taste of the victory when the fans stormed the field from behind in celebration. However, the game wasn’t over yet, so an official review was required to name the winner. Instead of going back to their seat, Colorado fans waited on the turf of the Folsom Field, holding their breaths alongside the players.
Eventually, the decision came and it was final, the Buffs won the game in all fairness. This prompted another set of thousands of fans to storm the field, causing even more chaos but totally understandable.
Colorado Buffaloes’ Coach Prime apologizes to opponents for post-game chaos
When the fans took over the field immediately following the victory, it didn’t allow the teams to shake hands and conclude the game with good sportsmanship. During the press conference post-game, Coach Prime addressed it and apologized to his opponents, especially head coach Dave Aranda for not being able to shake hands.

As much as Sanders felt bad for not meeting his opponents, he was grateful to see such love from the fans and the dedication with which the young players fought for the victory. Following this feat, the Buffaloes have improved to 3-1 and 1-0 in conference games.
