Alexia Putellas scored her first goal of the 2024-25 football season, in a 2-0 win over AC Milan at the club’s Johan Cruyff stadium, in the final of the Joan Gamper trophy. Polish forward Ewe Pajor was the other goalscorer for Barcelona Femini, scoring in the first half of the match with a great header. Moreover, the win marked the club’s fourth straight Gamper trophy win, and their third triumph against Italian opposition.

Putellas, who has been in the best of her form recently, is a front-runner to win the Ballon d’Or Feminin. She captivated fans with her performance. After coming on as a late substitute, the Barcelona skipper collected the ball at the halfway line and then drilled a ridiculous left-footed strike from almost 40 yards out, into the back of the net in the 89th minute. This sealed the victory for the home side, as the team excelled despite the absence of key first-team players.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen what comes ahead for the club, as they face US-based clubs, Bay FC and Dallas Trinity FC in two friendly matches next. Moreover, Putellas had previously scored an equally spectacular goal from a free-kick against Nigeria at the Paris Olympics.
