Arne Slot‘s Reds sternly announced their intent at securing the Premier League title as they claimed a spectacular victory over Southampton. The clash on Sunday night at St. Mary’s Stadium saw Liverpool’s Egyptian King Mohamed Salah prove just why he goes by that title.

A stunning second-half brace from Salah to claim all three points on the night means that Liverpool are now eight points clear of defending champions Manchester City. In a seesaw game that tipped in either sides favor, Liverpool opened the scoring through Dominik Szoboszlai.

The hosts then pulled one back from near the penalty spot, although Adam Armstrong‘s penalty was saved, and he needed to place the rebound past Caoimhin Kelleher. Mateus Fernandes then surprisingly put Southampton ahead, but not for long.

After pulling Liverpool level with an unbelievable one-touch finish, the Egyptian then put his side in front from the penalty spot. Even though Alex McCarthy guessed right, Salah’s confident penalty aimed at the top left corner found the net. Liverpool saw out the final 16 minutes or so as they remain undefeated in their last 14 games.
