Inter Miami skipper Lionel Messi‘s scintillating half volley helped his side make it through to the CONCACAF Champions Cup round of 16. The Argentinian forward scored in an impressive 3-1 second leg victory for the Herons over Sporting Kansas City.
David Beckham-owned Inter Miami started the new season with a bang, consolidating its place among the CONCACAF Champions Cup last-16. Inter Miami has set its eyes on winning the coveted continental competition for the first time in the club’s short five-year history. The Herons had made it to the quarter-finals of the competition last season, before losing out to Mexican side Monterrey.
Lionel Messi has made it two goals in two matches against Kansas City, after having also scored the winning-goal in the first-leg. In the second leg at the Chase Stadium, he opened the scoring for the home side. The Argentine received a chipped pass from Luis Suarez inside the penalty area in the 19th minute. He then controlled the ball using his chest, before volleying it into the back of the Kansas City net.
Still killing it.

The 37-year-old veteran forward enjoyed a decent outing until the 69th minute, when he was taken off. Benja Cremaschi replaced the Argentinian, who has made three appearances for Inter Miami this week. Tadeo Allende and Suarez also got into the score-sheet, as Inter Miami won 4-1 on aggregate. Memo Rodriguez managed to score a late consolation goal for Kansas, as they bowed out of the competition.
On to the next. ☑️🏆

I don't understand why defenders always keep away from him, he is a huge threat why leave him alone???

Moreover, the ex-PSG forward’s strike comes days after he was fined by MLS for an incident that occurred during Inter Miami’s season opener against New York City. Messi had furiously grabbed the neck of an opposition assistant coach.
