Fans were thrilled by the news that Manchester United is close to securing the signing of Bayern Munich duo, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. The double transfer swoop is set to cost a combined £60 million.

Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are set to become United’s third and fourth signings of the summer. This deal is expected to bring the club’s total summer spending to £140 million, following the recent signing of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro. United has reportedly agreed to pay a fee of £51 million, with an additional £9 million in performance-related bonuses, having already agreed on personal terms.

The two players would significantly improve United’s struggling defense, as manager Erik ten Hag continues his ambitious squad overhaul. Additionally, it would mark the duo’s reunion with the manager, under whom they played at Ajax.

The Dutchman has now spent over £500 million since joining the club, raising fans’ expectations for better results. Despite rumors of the club seeking a replacement, he recently signed a contract extension with United.

Additionally, United has agreed to sell right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham, clearing the way for the incoming Moroccan full-back. The club may also consider selling Victor Lindelof to accommodate De Ligt’s arrival.
