Gunners fans have been left thrilled over the news of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta agreeing to sign a new contract at the club, ending speculation over his future. The 42-year-old former midfielder has signed a three-year contract with the North London side. 

Mikel Arteta has become one of the best managers in the Premier League since making his move to the Emirates in 2019. He had previously worked as an assistant under Pep Guardiola at City. In his four-and-a-half-year tenure at Arsenal, he has led the club to two FA Cup and two Community Shield titles, while also finishing second in the EPL for the past two seasons. His brilliant managerial style has helped the Gunners become Premier League title contenders, while also helping them return to the UEFA Champions League.

Arteta has helped Arsenal reclaim its past glory in his five years in charge at the Emirates. Since replacing Unai Emery, he has also become a fan favorite. The Spaniard’s existing contract was set to expire at the end of the current season.

Besides extending his stay at the club, the contract extension will also bring an end to the uncertainty surrounding his future while also giving the team a huge boost ahead of the upcoming North London derby. 

The 42-year-old former Barcelona star, who won the Best Manager title at the Dubai Globe Soccer awards, is eyeing the EPL title this year. Rumors recently suggested Barcelona as a possible destination for Arteta, before the Catalans side decided to appoint Hansi Flick.
