Al-Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo was livid, after teammate Jhon Duran was shown a red card during the club’s 3-2 Saudi PL defeat to Al-Ettifaq. The 40-year-old forward furiously kicked the ball into the stands, following Duran’s sending off.

Al-Nassr fell to a disappointing defeat to Al-Ettifaq, leaving the club way behind in the Saudi PL title race. While the home side took a lead through Ayman Yahya‘s goal, Ettifaq came back through Georginio Wijnaldum‘s 55th minute strike. Mohammed Al-Fatil scored an own goal, despite having previously restored Al-Nassr’s lead. Finally, Wijnaldum struck again in the dying minutes, to help the visitors claim a win.

The match took an interesting turn in the final minutes, when January arrival Jhon Duran was shown a controversial red card. The Colombian forward, who was making just his fourth appearance for the club, was sent off for gently slapping an opposition player’s head. Al-Ettifaq midfielder Abdulelah Al-Malki, who was hit, surprisingly tumbled to the ground, which convinced the referee to dismiss Duran.

The incident left Al-Nassr skipper Cristiano Ronaldo, who already had a poor outing after failing to score a goal. The veteran forward, moments before the final whistle, reacted to the referee’s decision by angrily throwing his arms into the air. Moreover, Ronaldo threw an unnecessary fit by furiously kicking the ball into the air. He sent the ball from the kick-off spot towards the stands of the Mrsool Park.

While departing the pitch after the final whistle, the ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United forward also shared a word with the linesman and the fourth official. Meanwhile, Al-Nassr will be without Duran for their upcoming match against Al-Wehda.
