Fans Troll Jerry Jones After Dolphins Hire Troy Aikman To Advise Next GM Search – “He Should Be Advising The Cowboys”
Troy Aikman owes his legendary football career to Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys as they won three Super Bowls in the '90s.

The last time Jerry Jones held the Vince Lombardi Trophy in his hands, he had Troy Aikman and his legion of standout players by his side, as the Dallas Cowboys proved they were America’s team.
That date was January 28th, 1996, and since then, neither has the Hall of Fame quarterback come close to sniffing at another chance to win another ring, nor have the Cowboys.
In fact, they have not been able to win a Divisional Round playoff, even though the team seemingly self-projects itself as something that is synonymous with winning.
That projection has been met with ridicule, even though Jerry Jones believes every year that his team is about to end the drought. Even after this year’s disappointing efforts, the 83-year-old believes his organization will be Super Bowl champions soon.
Troy Aikman, for his part, has been analytically critical about his former team, especially when it came to their lackluster defense. That analytical side is probably why ESPN went all out to bring the 59-year-old into their broadcasting booth.
Now, another organization has sought the former UCLA Bruin’s expertise, as his ESPN colleague Adam Schefter broke the news that the Miami Dolphins hired the former signal caller to be a consultant.
The Miami Dolphins have brought on Hall-of-Fame QB and ESPN analyst Troy Aikman as a consultant to advise the organization on its general manager search process, per sources.

It is not a permanent role, but he will be an advisor throughout the process for the Dolphins’ next GM. pic.twitter.com/a7GKAv0Ojf
Troy Aikman’s role will be to advise the oft-struggling franchise as it searches for its next general manager after firing Chris Grier earlier this season.
Fans believe Jerry Jones should have sought Troy Aikman’s services
When football fans heard this news, they could not come to terms with how Jerry Jones, the man who has a direct line to his former quarterback, could not do what the Miami Dolphins are doing. They are aware that the billionaire has been stubborn enough not to leave his post as general manager, but felt that he could bring in Troy Aikman to advise on how to improve the team.
After all, the Dallas Cowboys’ struggles to be competent have become a regular topic of discussion in every NFL season. Fans believe this is another loss for Jerry Jones, as he could have asked the six-time Pro Bowler to help him make things right. Check out examples of those reactions below:

Troy Aikman may be consulting the Dolphins based on his experience both playing and covering the league as a color commentator for more than two decades. Maybe the franchise felt it was too valuable an experience not lean on, especially when they are facing a situation where they might have to reboot the entire roster.
Troy Aikman will work with former QB rival to help Dolphins
When the Miami Dolphins decided to seek help, Troy Aikman was not the only person they went after, as owner Stephen Ross seems intent on making the right decisions for his team.

They also have franchise legend Dan Marino already in the building as a special advisor. This means that the two former quarterbacks, who were part of the golden age that included John Elway, are going to work together.
Both Hall of Famers were rival signal callers who were jostling for both individual and team success, which the Cowboys legend managed to earn. Now, the two will be working together to help a team that desperately needs guidance in an ever-changing football landscape.
