“Your not a Triple H guy”- Wrestling fans miffed at 27-year-old star’s embarrassing WWE downfall despite beating John Cena at WrestleMania
WWE fans have reacted to the sad state of former two-time US Champion struggling despite having scored a win over John Cena previously.

Not everyone gets to lock horns with a WWE icon like John Cena, certainly not in a singles match at WrestleMania. However, one name that indeed holds that distinction is Austin Theory. He not only squared off with the 16-time World Champion at The Grandest Stage of Them All but also pinned Cena’s shoulders to the mat in their US title showdown at last year’s edition.
That was certainly a career-high for Theory. However, almost 1.5 years removed from that date, what’s his current standing on the roster? Last night after SmackDown, the 27-year-old lost to Luke Gallows, who doesn’t even fancy himself in singles competition. As pointed out by a user on X, Austin went from beating the likes of John Cena and Seth Rollins in 2023 to this kind of misery.
As of now, the once-touted future of WWE is reeling in the whirlwind of the tag team division on SmackDown. He’s paired with Grayson Waller as the A-Town Down Under. They’ve had their problems over the past few months. It even seemed at one point that they’d break up eventually, but they didn’t.
WWE has no plans to split them in the foreseeable future. As far as Theory’s singles run on the main roster is concerned, it has been underwhelming. Most of the fans believe that it wasn’t him going over Cena at WrestleMania 39 that derailed his momentum.
In fact, the promo exchange they had on Raw a few days prior to that was the litmus test for Theory. John outright told him that Austin’s superficial and what he does inside the ring isn’t believable. Since then, The Unproven One hasn’t been able to make the Peacemaker star eat his own words.
WWE fans put Triple H under scrutiny for dismal booking of Austin Theory
Although this isn’t the end of the world for Austin Theory, his recent trail of losses is alarming. The former US Champion’s stock has plummeted ever since Triple H took over as the creative lead.
An untelevised loss to Luke Gallows is something that’d do no good to Theory. If it did anything, the fans are peeved, as evident by the following reactions on X. One claimed that he was better off with Vince McMahon at the helm, and it went downhill for Austin once Vince stepped away from WWE.
Some irate folks called out Triple H for destroying Theory’s character and even dubbed the latter as one of The Game’s biggest fumbles. Under Paul Levesque, Austin did capture the tag team gold at WrestleMania XL. However, its follow-up was non-existent.
