Despite starting as a YouTuber, Jake Paul is now among boxing’s biggest names, drawing massive attention with every fight he books. He rose by defeating former UFC stars and aging boxers, building hype despite criticism for avoiding prime competitors. Now at 28 years old, Paul aims higher and even called out former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Paul has discussed making his heavyweight debut against top-tier boxers, aiming to prove himself on the biggest possible stage. He previously mentioned fighting Anthony Joshua, though critics dismissed it as typical promotional trash talk with no real intent. Recently, however, MVP CEO Nakisa Bidarian hinted that Paul could actually face AJ next, fueling serious speculation among fans.

I think the fight can absolutely happen. It could be an very interesting match-up and we’re activitely discussing it with Matchroom. I think we’re looking at it happening in Q1 of 2026. That’s the current discussion. I think it’s public that AJ was taking some time away, he had a little surgery, once he’s ready, and once Jake is ready, we’re going to squarely focus on that. Ultimately it’s not a fight that I want Jake to do, it’s a fight that Jake wants to do… He feels very confident about where he is in his career and his chances of upsetting Anthony Joshua.

Bidarian revealed they’re exploring multiple venues, with London’s iconic Wembley Stadium standing out as a strong possibility for the bout. According to him, Paul embraces the idea of fighting Joshua in his home country, enjoying the pressure and crowd boos. Besides Wembley, major international venues in Saudi Arabia and the UAE are also being considered to host the blockbuster event.

Paul recently fought and defeated the legendary Mike Tyson in a massive Netflix-streamed bout that shocked the boxing world. Over 65 million people tuned in on Netflix, making it the most-streamed sports event in the platform’s entire history. The fight also generated $17.8 million in gate revenue, with Paul earning $40 million and Tyson pocketing $20 million.

Paul also secured a convincing win over former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a ten-round boxing showdown. This fight further cemented Paul’s reputation, proving he could compete against actual boxers with real records and long-standing pedigrees. It would be interesting to see whether these negotiations between Paul and AJ go through.

Fight fans react to Jake Paul potentially fighting Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua has been inactive since his September 21, 2024, knockout loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium, prompting a long recovery hiatus. During his extended break, AJ underwent elbow surgery and targeted a comeback later in 2025, delaying any return to title contention.
