Indian Cricket Team scripted history as they secured their second T20 World Cup title in Barbados on June 29th. They finally managed to win an ICC title after a drought of 11 years and after coming close on so many occasions. It somewhat eased the pain that the Indian fans and players went through after losing the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia in Ahmedabad.
After the T20 World Cup 2024 win, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the two senior players announced their retirement from T20Is. The next day, Ravindra Jadeja also announced his retirement from T20Is.
Jadeja did not have good T20 World Cup 2024 and his stats haven’t been so good for India in the shortest format. But he has been a sensational player for India in Test cricket and in ODI cricket.
The Indian team still persisted with him in the T20 World Cup 2024 in every game but he was not able to perform as he would have liked with both bat and ball. After winning the T20 World Cup for the first time, Jadeja felt that it was the best time for him to announce his retirement from the shortest format of the game.
With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats . Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support. Jai hind.Ravindra Jadeja via Instagram
