James Harden, a star of the NBA and the Los Angeles Clippers, recently traveled to China for the 2025 UNO Tour. This tour is sponsored by the well-known company Adidas. For manufacturers and athletes, this is one of the most crucial times to promote their specific footwear and merchandise in different nations.

However, instead of a silent entrance, there was an insane reception from the Chinese basketball fanbase when the Clippers star showed up. When James Harden stepped out of the van to enter his hotel in China, he was met by a sea of devoted fans. While on his stay in China, ‘The Beard’ met up with fans and did a lot of promotional events due to his collaboration with Adidas, as he does every year.

But this time around, fans spotted something unusual in the NBA star. As per a viral video making rounds on the internet, the Clippers star has put on a lot of weight recently, which has gotten the whole NBA fanbase on their toes. For a few years, the Lakers’ star Luka Doncic was a victim of this. Now, it looks as if it its Harden’s turn.

It is important to note that this is not the first time Harden has put on weight. Back in 2022, he also went through the same process because of his injuries while playing at the Brooklyn Nets, so the Clippers star knows what he has to do to come into shape before the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season. Nobody would have given so much attention to Harden’s weight gain or loss if he hadn’t been an athlete.

However, he is the unofficial head of the Clippers in addition to being an NBA player after signing a contract extension. Among the significant adjustments the club has undergone recently is the addition of multiple-time All-Star Chris Paul, who has returned to the Clippers.

As such, Harden’s fitness is important for the Clippers fans who are longing for success for their franchise after being knocked out of the NBA playoffs over the past 2-3 years. With CP3, Kawhi Leonard and Bradley Beal, the team is going for a final push to win the championship.

Fans left worried after coming across the out-of-shape James Harden viral video

Just days ago, James Harden touched down in China for his annual promotional tour with Adidas—an appearance fans have come to expect. The former MVP appears to have gained a lot of weight during this offseason. Mostly because the star was spotted by a few hidden cameras hopping behind closed doors.

The viral video quickly made rounds in the NBA community in general. The majority of the NBA fans took to various social media sites and apps to put forward their views on Harden’s recent body shape, sending a message of concern towards the Clippers star ahead of the upcoming season. One fan wrote on X, “I thought that was the pilsbury dough boy.” Check out some of the fan reactions below:

Many will be hoping that Harden returns to fitness just in time before the upcoming season, especially his former Houston Rockets teammate, Chris Paul. They have previously been playing together at the Rockets and had their best team record back then under their leadership.

Tyrese Maxey made a stunning revelation regarding his former teammate, James Harden

It’s been quite some time since James Harden moved on from the Philadelphia Sixers. However, his teammates still remember him for his humble nature during his time in Philly. One of them is Sixers star Tyrese Maxey. He recently made a stunning revelation regarding Harden in an interview with HoopsHype.

The biggest thing I learned is—I know (James Harden), and I know people aren’t going to say he sacrificed, but he sacrificed. He gave up some of himself for the team, for the betterment of the team.

After being traded from Brooklyn to Philadelphia during the 2021–22 season, Harden quickly assumed a role that was more about creating plays than scoring goals. His influence was felt by Maxey, who became a rising talent in the backcourt, as well as Joel Embiid, who went on to win the MVP in 2023. However, the trio couldn’t bring a championship to the city of Philadelphia.
