Shaunie Henderson wished Shareef O'Neal for his 25th birthday

Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie Henderson‘s separation got ugly long after the couple’s divorce. But while the co-parents don’t necessarily see eye-to-eye, this hasn’t affected their equation with their kids. On the occasion of Shareef O’Neal‘s birthday, Henderson could not contain her motherly excitement on social media.

Last year, Shaunie Henderson shockingly revealed that she never loved her ex-husband. However, the producer certainly does not feel the same about her kids as she posted a wholesome compilation of Shareef O’Neal for his 25th birthday on her Instagram. Henderson showered her son with love as she called him her ‘favorite’. “Happy Birthday to my favorite second oldest… I love you so much!” Shaunie Henderson wrote.

The video contained multiple pictures of Shareef along with glimpses of him practicing and playing basketball. The clip caught the internet’s attention along with Shareef’s. The G-league power forward replied to the post commenting ‘I love you mama!’.

Unlike his father, Shareef has had a difficult experience in the NBA. After his mother excitingly announced that O’Neal had signed with the Sacramento Kings, the player was waived the very next day. However, the forward did not give up and still tried to make his name, even when it required him to leave the country.

Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie Henderson were against Shareef’s career choices

In 2022, Shareef O’Neal declared for the NBA draft but unfortunately failed to land a team. After getting waived by the Kings, O’Neal played in the G-league for the Lakers but was also shown out of his contact. That’s when the forward decided to move to Australia.

Australia’s National Basketball League approached O’Neal to play for them. The 25-year-old was ready to move continents to save his career, but his parents disagreed. During his appearance on the Buzzer podcast, O’Neal shared the conversation he had with his superstar father about his decision.“He’s like me and your mom talked about it. We’re not gonna let you go to Australia. That’s too far like damn, speaking to everything that happened, like the closest person to you is a 16-18 hour flight. He’s like we’re not going for that,” Shareef O’Neal said.

Shaq has succeeded at convincing Shareef to stay in the country by opening up a few opportunities for him. Despite always pushing his kids to be someone on their own, the Lakers legend did try to save his son from making mistakes. It is safe to say that O’Neal will always support his son despite not posting about his birthday on social media.
