It was absolute madness in Catalonia as Barcelona ran riot against Real Valladolid in their latest fixture of La Liga. Riding high on the imperious dominion of Raphinha’s hattrick and the quartet of Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Dani Olmo, and Ferran Torres, the Catalans dropped an explosive statement that sent the fans in utter frenzy.

Barcelona could have surged past as early as in the fifth minute had it not been for the woodwork that came in between the goal and Dani Olmo. After all the crazy action up front, it was the 20th minute that saw the Catalan giants open the floodgates as Raphinha found the back of the net with a cool and composed finish from Pau Cubarsi’s assist.

Four minutes later, it was the Polish marksman, Robert Lewandowski, who smashed home the second for Barcelona as Yamal set him up perfectly. Deep in the extra time of the first half, Jules Kounde made it 3-0 for Barcelona as he latched onto a loose ball in the box from a corner. There was a brief lull for the Catalonians, but Raphinha scored the first half of the second half from a rebound that was parried into his path by the Valladolid custodian, Karl Hein.

The Brazilian attacker found the fifth for Barcelona in the 72nd minute when he latched onto an excellent ball from Lamine Yamal to poke it home under Hein. Barcelona was in no mood to relent as Dani Olmo found the sixth for the team. After being teed up by Ferran Torres, Olmo carved some excellent ball control to shake off his marker and fire home a picture-perfect finish.

Torres hammered the last nail in the coffin as he slammed home the seventh from a Raphinha assist to assert Barcelona’s imperious dominance over Valladolid.

Here is what X had to say about Barcelona’s dream start to La Liga 2024-25

The fans were absolutely delighted with what they saw from their favourite team, as they registered 13 goals in just four games. With four wins on the trot in the La Liga, Barcelona comfortably sits at the top of the points table. More importantly, however, they have carved an extraordinary brand of football that has left the fans tickled.

They started their La Liga campaign with a victory against Valencia while replicating similar form against Athletic Club. They continued to be unstoppable, making it three out of three against Rayo Vallecano while bringing out the big guns against Valladolid. The fans have found themselves in seventh heaven as they poured out their exhilarations on X.

With their next clash against Girona, which will be away from home, Barcelona’s new coach Hansi Flick will be hopeful of maintaining similar momentum. After all the shortcomings at the start of the season, which saw the club struggling to register Dani Olmo, the kind of performance that the team has knitted has been downright awe-inspiring.
