Felix Auger-Aliassime is an improving player and has moved up from World No. 29 to No. 18 since January. However, the Canadian has also been heavily criticized for his game and failure to win titles. With fellow youngster Carlos Alcaraz praised for his achievements, he maintains that he can do the better of the Spaniard if he becomes more precise.
Auger-Aliassime was hailed as a great talent when he rose to his career-high of World No. 6 in 2022. However, he failed to live up to expectations, winning just five titles so far. This year, the 23-year-old has been inconsistent in his game and has a 20-15 win-loss record.
On the other hand, Alcaraz has been enjoying great results since March. He won his first title of the season at Indian Wells. Later, he won back-to-back Grand Slams at the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships. The Spaniard now has four Grand Slams at the age of 21.
Auger-Alliassime spoke about Alcaraz’s genius on the court and praised him for winning important matches. He also said that he can compete with the Spaniard if he can be more precise in his game.
He’s a genius in his field. Many players have been precocious and good at a very young age and have had difficulties, have encountered challenges, but with him, it’s as if he is always able to respond. He manages to win all the important matches. I don’t think you can teach that to just anyone. But I feel that when I play very well, I can compete with him. Do I need to work harder? Do I need to be more precise in what I do?

Auger-Alliassime and Alcaraz are tied 3-3 in their head-to-head record. They last met in the fourth round of the 2024 French Open, with the Spaniard winning in straight sets. Both will represent their countries at the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Felix Auger-Aliassime has revealed that he wants to clinch a medal for Canada at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The tournament, which kickstarts on July 27, will be the 23-year-old’s second Olympic Games.
At Tokyo 2020, he was knocked out in the first round. Auger-Aliassime has been working hard to ensure he doesn’t face another quick exit at the quadrennial event.
For me, it has a lot of weight. I’m preparing for this tournament the same way I prepare for all the big tournaments. So I’m putting everything in place to try to be in shape and play well.
