Canadian tennis star Felix Auger-Aliassime has unknowingly and unintentionally attracted criticism for himself as the 23-year-old reached the final of the Madrid Open. As Auger-Aliassime got as many as three walkovers on his way to the final in Madrid, fans took a jibe at him. Some also dragged Novak Djokovic saying that is what happens most of the time with the Serbian at Grand Slam tournaments.

Notably, Auger-Aliassime advanced to the final of the Madrid Open on Friday after Jiri Lehecka retired midway through the semifinal match between the two players. Prior to this, Jannik Sinner pulled out of the tournament over injury concerns, allowing the Canadian to enter the semifinals.

He is pitted against Andrey Rublev in the final who beat Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the semifinal. It will be a big ask for the Canadian considering his head-to-head record against the Russian ace. Auger-Aliassime trails 4-1 against Rublev and he lost the only match played between the two players on clay.

Even in this tournament, Rublev is coming on the back from a stellar run so far. So, it will be interesting to see if the Canadian youngster manages to beat a top 10 player for his first-ever Masters title.
