Cincinnati Reds pitcher Fernando Cruz loved how he shut up the whole fan base after getting New York Yankees star Aaron Judge to hit in a double play on Wednesday. The Reds won the game 3-2 as the Yankees continued the slump following 13 of the 18 game losses till now.

Cruz was fired up to join the “I got Aaron Judge to hit in a double play” club, as per Forbes. While some give up HR while facing the Yankees pitcher, Cruz was not one of them. After the game, he expressed how he felt saying, it was “the best feeling in the world.”

He took a swipe at Aaron Judge noting, “It was the time to compete.” While he acknowledges Judge as one of the best players in the world, he also loved boosting his team’s victory against him in the Yankees stadium.

I know who you are. I'm here…He’s the best hitter in the world. There’s no better way to compete than getting him to hit into a double play with a game like that.

Cruz further added,

Shutting down the fans, the crowd…shutting them down is one of the best feelings in sports for me.

He challenged Judge with runners on the corners with one out, but the NY pitcher hit the ball right at Noelvi Marte, who ended the inning with a double play call. Reds manager David Bell said he trusted his players to get the outs, and it was rewarding in the end.

Can the NY Yankees pick themselves up in the remaining few games?

While the topic is highly debatable, the last few game scores put the New York Yankees in a bad spot. They have already lost 13 out of 18 games in the past. If the team wants to compete in the playoffs their rotation and players need to be in their 100% form.

However, the pitchers Carlos Rodon and Luis Gil’s performances on Tuesday and Wednesday have worried the fans. While Gil made a solid start on Tuesday, he failed to carry out the same energy till the end. Whereas, in Wednesday’s game Rodon was pulled out at the end of the sixth inning after giving up HRs to the Reds.

NY Yankees manager Aaron Boone has expressed faith in his team. How the team will play out and whether they stand a chance for a playoff berth will be determined by the results of the next few games.
